What happens

Wild Bill Hickok and his deputy Jingles are riding near Sam Tuttle's ranch to stop the rustlers who have been stealing his cattle. Tuttle, a rancher, says he is selling out and his new foreman, Jim Morley, sneers at the lawmen. After a stampede nearly traps them, the pair find a dead man in a clump of brush, a government cattle inspector named Garth who had visited Tuttle days earlier. Hickok searches Garth's hotel room and finds a paper that he thinks matters. The story follows the investigation into the cattle losses and the dead inspector. The lawmen work to make sense of the cattle losses and the inspector's death.

A ranch and the nearby town in the Old West, where cattle are being stolen and a government inspector has been killed.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
