What happens

Wild Bill Hickok and his deputy Jingles welcome Pug Donovan, a Chicago newspaper reporter who has come west to ride with them and write about the real frontier. Their friendly shooting contest is interrupted when a rough outlaw known as the Rock sizes up Donovan and threatens him. The Rock has planned to use the reporter's writing for his own purposes, and he warns Hickok and Jingles to stay out of his way. The story follows the lawmen as they track the gang across the territory and try to protect the reporter.

The American frontier West, in a Western town and the surrounding countryside.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
