What happens

Wild Bill Hickok and his deputy Jingles, lawmen of the Old West, take jobs as cowhands on the Walking J ranch to investigate rustling. While rounding up cattle, Bill finds his shooting has gone off, and he suspects his six-guns have been tampered with. He takes them to a gunsmith in Prairie Hill, where the smith seems nervous and hints at trouble. Bill and Jingles then spot a herd of Walking J cattle being driven toward the pass by rustlers, and they set off in pursuit. This episode of the Wild Bill Hickok series, transcribed in Hollywood, stars Guy Madison as Bill and Andy Devine as Jingles, and aired on April 23, 1954.

The Old West, around the Walking J ranch and the town of Prairie Hill

Characters: Wild Bill Hickok, Jingles, Fritz

Listen for: Fritz's coded warning about Bill's guns, and the moment Bill and Jingles spot the stolen herd heading for the pass

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
