What happens

Wild Bill Hickok and his deputy Jingles are at the marshal's office when Mary Beth, a young girl who has run away from her ranch home, comes to ask for help. She is frightened of someone and will not say why. Her father, Joe Thompson, seems terrified as well, and tension builds between Joe, Mary Beth, and Cora, a woman who claims to be Joe's sister. Bill and Jingles ride out to the Thompson ranch to find out what is happening. The Wild Bill Hickok series is a radio western, and this episode was broadcast on May 27, 1953, starring Guy Madison as Wild Bill and Andy Devine as Jingles.

The United States Marshal's office and the Thompson ranch in the Old West

Characters: Wild Bill Hickok, Jingles, Mary Beth, Joe Thompson, Cora, Bart Bayless

Listen for: Mary Beth's remark that Cora is not her auntie, and the tension between Joe and Bart Bayless at the ranch house

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
