What happens
On Red Horse Ranch, the hands gather in front of the old ranch house to welcome Rose Carter home from her schooling in the east. Idaho has driven the buckboard to town to fetch her, and the men sing while they wait, joined by her father, Sam Carter, who owns the ranch. When Rose arrives, the men tease her and seem unsure how to greet the young woman she has become. Her father is shaken and worried that outside people may take the ranch away from him, and the hands, led by Alabama, begin to talk about what they might do to help him keep it.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
