What happens

Alabama and his friends from the Red Horse Ranch are at the Danville rodeo, where Alabama's horse Red threw him during the first race after something went badly wrong. Alabama suspects a deliberate trick and believes Steve Bradford may be involved. Dewey admits he was supposed to keep watch over Red before the race but left his post briefly, and a stranger had approached him. Alabama presses Dewey for details about the man, while the ranch crew talks over what happened. The story sets up a possible rematch in the final race, with the mystery of who tampered with Red still unresolved.

A rodeo grounds at Danville, with a campsite and chuck wagon in the evening after the first race.

Listen for: Alabama questioning Dewey about the stranger who offered him lemonade while Red was unguarded.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
