What happens
Alabam believes there is oil beneath the Red Horse Ranch, and an oil company representative named Mr. Niles arrives to offer Mr. Carter a lease on the land. Mr. Carter and his daughter Rose agree to sign, and Niles stays for supper with the ranch hands. Alabam then explains that he noticed oil on the fetlocks of the horse Red, and that he followed the horse to a spring where oil floated on the water. The ranch hands tease him and sing for him, and the conversation turns to Steve Radford, a buyer who has been trying to acquire the ranch. Radford arrives with a proposal, and the ranch hands treat him roughly. The story remains open at its close, with Alabam still set on bringing a boy named Dawson to the ranch.
The Red Horse Ranch, its ranch house and veranda, and the surrounding pasture and hills near a badlands.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
