What happens
On the Red Horse Ranch, the foreman Carter and the hands are unhappy when Alabama brings a boy named Dewey Dawson to the ranch. Dewey's father, the outlaw Trigger Dawson, was shot and killed by a Red Horse outfit after a cattle-rustling pursuit in the roaring river country, and the boy was found living at his hideout. Some doubt he is really Dawson's son. Alabama is set on caring for the boy, while the other men are wary of having the child of an outlaw on the ranch. When Dewey arrives, he is shy and confused, and the hands try to cheer him up with songs and play. Carter voices concern about the arrangement. The episode presents Dewey's first hours on the ranch and the tension over whether he can fit in.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
