What happens
Steve Bradford has been put in charge of the Red Horse outfit during the spring roundup while Alabama recovers from an injury. The cowboys bring the herd in, and Bradford gives orders that the men resent. Tensions run high at the chuck wagon and during night herding, where the crew sings to calm the cattle. Alabama unexpectedly rides into camp, having slipped away from the ranch house, and Bradford tells him he is no longer foreman while he is there. The cowboys clearly distrust Bradford, and the episode closes with Bradford assigning Alabama to night herd and Bob to stay in camp.
The Red Horse Ranch range during the spring roundup, including the chuck wagon camp and the bedground where the herd is night-herded.
Characters: Steve Bradford, Alabama, Bob, Idaho, Arizona, Tex, Cookie, Tenderfoot
Listen for: Bradford's orders to the outfit, the cowboys' complaints about him, and Alabama's sudden arrival in camp.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
