What happens

Red Horse Ranch cowhands travel to the big rodeo in Danville, where Alabama's horse Red throws him during the first race and loses. Alabama suspects someone tampered with the saddle, and he finds cactus under it. Dewey, who was supposed to be watching Red, admits he left the horse alone briefly after a stranger offered to buy him lemonade. Alabama questions Dewey about the man and his connection to Steve Bradford, the rival whose horse won. Alabama plans to keep investigating, and the rodeo's final race is still to come.

The Danville rodeo grounds, where the Red Horse Ranch crew is camped, and the rodeo's first race and the evening that follows.

Characters: Alabama, Dewey, Steve Bradford, Idaho, Cookie

Listen for: Dewey's account of who offered him the lemonade, and Alabama's reaction when he connects that person to Steve Bradford.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
