What happens
J.B. Kendall, a traveling Englishman, stops at a remote Wyoming homestead to water his horses and meets Meg Calder, a woman from Connecticut living with her silent daughter Annie while her husband Wally digs a new well. When Wally returns with news that cattleman Selfridge and his gang have burned down a neighboring homesteader's claim and are driving out settlers, Kendall offers to stay and help defend the property against the coming trouble.
A homesteading cabin in Wyoming territory, one year into settlement, with a drying well and a new well being dug behind the house.
Characters: J.B. Kendall, Meg Calder, Wally Calder, Annie (Anne Meredith) Calder, Selfridge, the Allen boys, Old Man Hovlin
Listen for: The tension between homesteaders' legal claims and cattlemen's violent efforts to drive them out; Meg's determination to hold her land despite the danger.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
