What happens

Kendall, a traveling newspaperman, seeks her out for an interview and witnesses her coolly handle a drunk and violent customer, learning she was once Mrs. Newt Hallott, an army surgeon's widow who discovered her talent for cards. As Kendall leaves her establishment, local gambling hall owners meet secretly to discuss the threat she poses to their business.
Cheyenne, Wyoming Territory, 1958. A large gambling tent near the railroad depot and surrounding saloons.
Characters: J.B. Kendall, Carrie Chase, Madame Verde, Jonas Luke, Mr. Lesignor
Listen for: The mysterious Madame Verde's evasive answers about her past, her cool control of a dangerous situation in the tent, and the ominous meeting of local gambling hall owners plotting against her.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
