What happens
J.B. Kendall, an English writer for the London Times, arrives in South Sunday, Montana Territory to observe frontier life. The town operates under an unusual law forbidding anyone from carrying guns, enforced strictly by Sheriff Clanton. Kendall registers as required and settles in, intrigued by the town's strict order and the brewing tensions with nearby Sioux and Cheyenne tribes.
South Sunday, Montana Territory in the 1880s frontier era, including the dock, sheriff's office, and a local establishment.
Characters: J.B. Kendall, Sheriff Frank Clanton, Deputy Jake Farley, Lila, Harry the bartender
Listen for: Kendall's observations about the unusual gun ban and its effects on frontier justice; the mysterious dynamics between Sheriff Clanton and the townspeople; Lila's cryptic warnings and her relationships with the men in town.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
