What happens

J.B. Kendall, an English writer, arrives in South Sunday, a Montana town with an unusual law prohibiting the carrying of guns. He registers with Sheriff Clanton and settles into the Empire Hotel, where he meets Lila, a woman working there. When Deputy Farley discovers Kendall talking with Lila over drinks, tensions rise as Farley warns him to stay away from her.

South Sunday, Montana territory, in a town with a strict no-gun law. The action takes place at the Express office, Sheriff Clanton's office, the Empire Hotel, and its saloon bar.

Characters: J.B. Kendall, Sheriff Clanton, Deputy Dick Farley, Lila, Bartender Harry, Express office clerk, Mr. Farley

Listen for: The conflict between Kendall's presence as an outsider and the town's suspicions of strangers; the tension between Farley and Kendall over Lila; and hints of trouble brewing with the Sioux and Cheyenne that Kendall hopes to witness.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
