What happens
A newspaper correspondent in Deadwood learns that Crow Dog, a Sioux policeman sentenced to hang for killing Chief Spotted Tail, may have had a hidden motive rooted in tribal revenge. Crow Dog's attorney urges the correspondent to use his newspaper influence to help save his client's life, but Crow Dog himself seems resigned to his fate.
Deadwood, Dakota Territory, 1958; includes an attorney's office and a jail cell
Characters: JB Kendall, Harry Clum, Crow Dog, Spotted Tail, Crazy Horse
Listen for: The tension between white man's justice and Sioux custom; Crow Dog's stoic acceptance of his execution; questions about whether revenge within the tribe justifies his act in his own eyes
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
