What happens

A traveling writer named J.B. Kendall shares a meal with two prospectors, Frank Twist and Charlie Longbaugh, in the Black Hills near Deadwood. Frank is lovesick over a girl named Mary at the Green Front saloon, while Charlie warns that she only cares about Frank's money. When Frank discovers an enormous nugget of pure gold while venting his frustration at a creek, the three men believe they have struck it rich—but questions immediately arise about whether the gold actually lies within their claim.

Listen for: The discovery of the gold nugget and the growing uncertainty about whether it's on their property; Frank's emotional attachment to Mary and Charlie's cynical view of her intentions

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
