What happens

Frontier Gentleman Kendall arrives in Deadwood needing a horse for his travels and seeks advice from a local named Squatty Reynolds. Reynolds directs him to horse trader Woolah Simmons, who sells Kendall a sturdy long-distance horse for forty dollars on a week's trial. When Fitch Talman and his associates mock the purchase, the proud Simmons makes a large bet that Kendall's horse can outperform any horse in Deadwood in an endurance race from Deadwood to Cheyenne.

Listen for: The colorful dialect of frontier horse traders as they negotiate the sale of an unlikely champion horse, and the growing tension as an ambitious bet is made that could cost Simmons everything.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
