What happens

A newspaper correspondent named Kendall reunites with a woman known as Madame Verde, who has opened a gambling establishment in Deadwood, Dakota Territory. As she prepares for her first night of business, a local man named Mr. May arrives with offers of protection, raising questions about whether her true identity might already be known in town.

Deadwood, Dakota Territory; a gambling tent on Main Street in the badlands district

Characters: Kendall, Belle Siddons (Madame Verde), Mr. May, Archie McLaughlin

Listen for: Kendall and Belle's reunion and their discussion of her new gambling business; Mr. May's visit and his mysterious interest in protecting Belle; hints about her past identity and whether it will be discovered.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
