What happens
A young officer at Fort Laramie rescues an injured Indian girl from a snake bite and brings her to the fort for medical care, not realizing she is the daughter of Chief Spotted Tail. When the chief arrives with sixty warriors, the commander must navigate a delicate situation between military protocol, Christian charity, and the need to maintain peace with the tribe.
Fort Laramie in the American West during the Indian conflicts of the frontier era.
Characters: Lieutenant Syberts, Dan Tolliver, Spotted Tail, Ahuapa, Captain, Doctor
Listen for: A thoughtful exploration of differing perspectives on westward expansion and Indian displacement, culminating in a tense negotiation between the fort's commander and Chief Spotted Tail over his wounded daughter.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
