What happens

Wild Bill Hickok and his deputy Jingles are drawn into the hunt for an outlaw who has robbed five gold shipments near Steeprock, Arizona, while disguised as a horny toad. The sheriff has failed to catch him, and the local foreman Dan Butcher has gathered a posse of his own. Hickok and Jingles arrive at the Sad Sally Mine and meet night watchman Clarence Duffield, whose hobby is stuffing and collecting lizards and toads. Their search of the mine leads them into dangerous underground tunnels. Wild Bill Hickok, starring Guy Madison and Andy Devine, aired on January 11, 1952.

Steeprock, Arizona, and the Sad Sally Mine in the old West

Characters: Wild Bill Hickok, Jingles, Dan Butcher, Clarence Duffield, Sheriff

Listen for: Listen for Clarence Duffield's collection of stuffed lizards and toads, and for Jingles' garbled song lyrics about Susanna.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
