What happens

Wild Bill Hickok and his deputy Jingles investigate a theft in a frontier town after Miss Petty, who runs a dress shop, sees a wanted outlaw slip out of her shop. Wanted posters arrive at the marshal's office, and Miss Petty becomes convinced she has spotted the man on one of them, a thief who stole a diamond necklace in New York and bears a telltale scar. Shots are fired, a valuable diamond necklace is dropped in the shop, and the two lawmen set out to catch the man before he escapes. The Wild Bill Hickok radio series, first broadcast on May 5, 1954, stars Guy Madison as Wild Bill and Andy Devine as Jingles.

A small frontier town in the American West, around the marshal's office and Miss Petty's dress shop, and the surrounding countryside.

Characters: Wild Bill Hickok, Jingles, Miss Petty, Zip Tooler, Miss Jackson, Bigfoot Brown

Listen for: Miss Petty's insistence that she recognizes the outlaw from his wanted poster, and the sound of gunfire behind the dress shop.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
