What happens

United States Marshal Wild Bill Hickok and his deputy Jingles travel to Westport after receiving a letter from Carolyn Collier, whose father has vanished after heading west. Wild Bill suspects something mysterious behind the appeal. In town, a shooting leaves Wild Bill wounded, and the pair begin asking the local outfitters about J.B. Collier. Meanwhile, a sinister storekeeper named Sutter and his accomplice Grimm plot against the lawmen, and the episode closes with Jingles setting out in disguise as a rich banker.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
