What happens

Marshal Wild Bill Hickok and his deputy Jingles are riding back into town on New Year's Eve after a long week of law work when Charlie, the town official, reports that $2,000 collected for new schoolbooks and desks has been stolen at gunpoint from his office. The shipment must be paid for on delivery before the New Year's Eve party, so the pair set out on the bandit's trail through the dark. Wild Bill Hickok, played by Guy Madison, and Andy Divine as Jingles, follow tracks and clues across the valley toward town before midnight.

The Old West, a frontier town on New Year's Eve, with the surrounding valley and trails at night.

Characters: Wild Bill Hickok, Jingles, Charlie Bavin, Ezra, Fritz

Listen for: The tracking scene in the dark, where Wild Bill reads hoof prints and a bandana clue, and the race to the express office before midnight.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
