What happens
A stranger named Britt Ponson rides into Clay City when his horse needs a new shoe. He learns that the Fargo office was robbed the night before, with one man killed and another, Fred Wilmer, badly wounded. Ponson helps the local sheriff investigate by examining the crime scene and following clues, including a distinctive horseshoe print left by the robber's horse.
Clay City, a small Western town with a blacksmith shop and Fargo office; the story extends to Fred Wilmer's ranch
Characters: Britt Ponson, Heavy Norton (George), Sheriff Scofill, Fred Wilmer, Ben Schofield, Whitey Jackson
Listen for: A clever wager about guessing a man's weight; discussion of Ponson's legendary fast draw; the discovery of an unusual horseshoe as a key clue to the robbery
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
