What happens

Rocky Fortune, a drifting young man, is working as a steward aboard a luxury liner sailing from Bermuda to New York. After a flirtatious visit to the sick bay, where he meets nurse Helen Travis, he finds the cabin of Lady Harkness in disorder and is knocked unconscious. Fortune wakes with a plaster cast on his arm and learns that jewelry worth $50,000 has been stolen from the lady. The captain treats him as the prime suspect, and Fortune must clear his name while the ship's doctor lies dead in the dark room.
