What happens

Rocky Fortune, a night counterman at a lower west side diner, meets a nine-year-old boy named Mickey carrying a shoe box of money. Mickey claims to be running away from home, and Rocky tries to help him while a sergeant and a pair of hoods come looking for the boy. This Rocky Fortune episode from October 27, 1953, is an NBC broadcast starring Frank Sinatra in the title role, with Richard Beals, Billy Janis, Eddie Fields, Frank Richards and Barney Phillips in the cast.

A lower west side all-night hamburger diner and later a city apartment, in a rainy night and the following morning.

Characters: Rocky Fortune, Mickey, Sergeant Fingar, Anne Prettis, Perry Brock, Moose

Listen for: Rocky's wry narration as he tries to help the frightened boy, and the scuffle in the apartment as Rocky tries to outwit Perry Brock and his hired muscle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
