What happens

At Red Horse Ranch, the cowhands gather in the corral to see whether Alabama can break Red, his roan horse. The men tease one another and sing as Alabama and Arizona work with the animal, and the horse proves more gentle than the crew expected. Afterward, Rose confronts Alabama on the veranda, upset to learn that trouble has come to the ranch: drought, dying cattle and a difficult spring. She had heard the news from Steve Bradford, who told her he had made her father an offer to buy the ranch. Rose says she will give up school and stay to help her father and Alabama fight through the hardship, and the scene ends with the question of what Bradford's purpose is.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
