What happens
Life on the Red Horse Ranch centers on young Dewey Dawson, who has gradually won the friendship of the cowboys and of Rose and Dad Carter since Alabama brought him to the ranch. One evening the boys gather on the veranda to sing for Rose, and Dewey sits with her on the steps. Dad Carter joins them and talks with the men about the prospect of oil on the ranch and the drilling equipment that is due to arrive. Later, the dog barks loudly down past the bunkhouse, and Alabama goes to look. He finds Dewey frightened after two men grabbed him and ran off when they heard the others coming. Dewey says they knew him and wanted him to go with them, and the men wonder why anyone would want a boy like him.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
