What happens
Dewey Dawson is allowed to stay at the Red Horse Ranch with his dog, thanks to Alabam's kindness, and the cowhands turn their attention to the big rodeo planned in Danville. In the evening the boys sing around the bunkhouse, and the young tenderfoot is urged to go up to the house and sing to Miss Rose. He goes to the veranda, where Rose is waiting in the moonlight. The two talk about the ranch and about his place there, and his hopes for her turn into a confession. The conversation ends with Rose turning him down, leaving the tenderfoot to brood over where he stands with her.
The Red Horse Ranch, at the bunkhouse and on the veranda of the main house under a moonlit night sky.
Characters: Dewey Dawson, Alabam, Tex, Arizona, Tenderfoot, Miss Rose, Joe, Elvyn
Listen for: Listen for the boys' singing around the bunkhouse, Arizona's wistful song about his old sweetheart, and Tenderfoot's nervous conversation with Rose on the veranda.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
