What happens

Early in 1921, Gus Chapman goes to a federal agent in Atlanta, Georgia, and reports that he was held against his will on John S. Williams's plantation on the Yellow River after working out a fine. The agent, who is investigating, questions Gus about the conditions he endured, including being locked in a stockade at night and beaten. Gus describes his treatment and the agent begins to look into Williams's conduct. The agent visits the plantation to inspect the quarters and speaks with a worker named Clyde Manning, whose remarks raise further concerns about the place. This is part of the Police Reporter series, and the recording is an episode from its radio run.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
