What happens

Philip Marlowe is hired by Mrs. Corey Gilbert to find a blackmailer. When he investigates, he discovers her husband Ross badly beaten by a thin, bearded man, and follows a suspicious character named Plummer to a bungalow in Beverly Hills where he meets the mysterious and seductive Nanette Lamont. Marlowe begins to uncover connections between Plummer, Nanette, and various people connected to Ross Gilbert, but the full scope of the blackmail scheme remains unclear.

Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, 1949—including an unfinished house on Melrose, the Camden Arms Court bungalows, and various office and residence locations.

Characters: Philip Marlowe, Mrs. Corey Gilbert, Ross Gilbert, Plummer, Nanette Lamont, Marsh

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
