What happens
Private detective Philip Marlowe is hired by the wealthy Sydney Vanita to fly a valuable string of pearls to Chicago. When Marlowe arrives at Vanita's home for their meeting, he finds the man dead from a heart attack—and the pearls missing from the wall safe. Marlowe must uncover who stole the pearls and why a mysterious nurse never arrived at the appointment.
Los Angeles, including Vanita's home on Adams Boulevard, a nurse's registry, and Vivian Russell's art studio in Hollywood near Bronson.
Characters: Philip Marlowe, Sydney Vanita, Temple, Vivian Russell, Nick Takalakis, Miss Drew
Listen for: The mysterious phone number on the cash register receipt, the missing pearls worth $30,000, and the nurse who never showed up.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
