What happens

Private investigator Philip Marlowe is hired by a Philadelphia lawyer named Martin Almond to locate a man named Buff Ryan, who came west a year ago and has been missing for about six months. Marlowe's search leads him to an East Los Angeles address, where he discovers a blonde woman living in a small house behind the main residence. The woman's photographs reveal she knows Buff Ryan intimately, though she refuses to cooperate with Marlowe's questions. He follows her to her job at a burlesque theater, where she performs under the stage name Blossom.

Los Angeles in summer, including the Broadview Hotel, East Los Angeles residential streets, and a burlesque theater downtown.

Characters: Philip Marlowe, Martin Almond, Buff Ryan, Blossom, C.A. Douglas

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
