What happens

Detective Philip Marlowe is interrupted during his desperately needed sleep by Carolyn Shepherd, a frightened young woman claiming someone has been following her. After Marlowe showers and changes, Carolyn mysteriously vanishes from his apartment, leaving him to track down answers about who she really is and why she came to him.
