What happens

Nick Carter is called to the morgue by Lieutenant Riley to identify a body washed ashore—a man carrying one of Nick's business cards. The corpse turns out to be Dr. Stanley Phillips, a research chemist Nick has worked with before. Examination of the body reveals Phillips was murdered by a left-handed killer. Nick and his assistant Patsy investigate the Phillips estate on Long Island Sound, where they encounter Phillips's sister Rose and family friend Richard Coles, then face gunfire from an unknown assailant inside the house.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
