What happens

Wealthy collector Robert Bixby is found dead in his library, strangled with a broken neck. Nick Carter receives a mysterious phone call urging him to come quickly, but when he arrives with Sergeant Betty, they discover Bixby's body. Under the victim's feet, they find a letter dated 1780 signed by King George III—an apparent royal apology. Nick suspects the letter is a forgery and believes finding the forger may lead him to the killer.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
