What happens

Nick Carter arrives at the fashionable apartment of Anthony Miller, where the man is found dead with a pistol in his hand. The case appears to be suicide until Carter examines the murder weapon and discovers that while a shell has been fired, the barrel is clean—suggesting the gun was not used to kill Miller. Carter realizes this is murder, not suicide, and that whoever committed the crime must be someone inside the locked apartment.

A fashionable duplex apartment at 717 West Hampton Street, New York City, on an ordinary morning.

Characters: Nick Carter, Matty (Sergeant Mathis), Dr. Rodney, Jordan (butler), Mr. Warner (Miller's nephew), Anthony Miller (deceased), Mr. Miller's niece

Listen for: The clever detective work of Nick Carter as he examines the murder weapon and recognizes the signs of foul play where others see only suicide.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
