What happens
Johnny Waldron sits on death row with just hours to live, convicted of robbing the Fielding safe and murdering Mrs. Fielding. He asks detective Nick Carter to visit him and requests that Carter investigate to prove his innocence—not to save him, but to clear his name for the sake of his wife, Laura. With time running out, Carter agrees to look into the case and races against the clock to find evidence.
A state prison death row and the surrounding area, with flashbacks to investigations; present day 1946.
Characters: Nick Carter, Johnny Waldron, Laura Waldron, Patsy Bowen, The Warden, Loysh
Listen for: A race-against-time murder investigation as Carter searches for the real thief and killer of Mrs. Fielding, with the execution clock ticking down and Johnny's fingerprints on the murder weapon pointing against him.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
