What happens
Joe Gibbs, a man Nick Carter once helped get paroled, is in trouble again. When Joe's wife Edna finds a diamond ring in his coat after he comes home drunk and beaten following a night at a bar, she fears he has stolen it or worse. Nick and Patsy investigate, following the trail from the bar where Joe spent the evening to a diamond dealer's office in an office building.
A city with bars, office buildings, and police headquarters; post-war era (1948).
Characters: Nick Carter, Patsy Bowen, Joe Gibbs, Edna Gibbs, Sergeant Madison, Barney, Pete the bartender, Mr. Foster
Listen for: The mystery of the diamond ring and Joe's whereabouts; Sergeant Madison's revelation about a robbery and homicide at the jeweler's office.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
