What happens
Johnny Waldron, convicted of murdering Mrs. Fielding and robbing her safe, is scheduled to be executed at midnight. With only hours to live, he requests a final meeting with Nick Carter and asks the master detective to investigate whether he's truly guilty, particularly for the sake of his devoted wife Laura. Carter agrees to look into the case, but has very little time and no clear leads beyond the missing Fielding jewels that were never recovered.
A state prison death house and Nick Carter's detective office in the city, with references to the Fielding residence where the crime occurred.
Characters: Nick Carter, Johnny Waldron, Laura Waldron, Patsy, The Warden, District Attorney, Tom Fielding, Mrs. Fielding
Listen for: Nick Carter's rapid investigation into whether Waldron is truly guilty, the significance of the missing jewels, and clues about what really happened the night Mrs. Fielding was murdered.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
