What happens
Mr. X, a globe-trotting adventurer, teams up with American geologist Stuart Harding and Inspector Abbe in French Indochina after the body of Professor Gibbons turns up, the scientist who vanished with a flying boat six weeks earlier. The men suspect a legendary jeweled throne hidden by the professor is the motive. Their search draws in a dangerous mix of rivals, a cafe owner, and a mysterious beautiful woman named Eileen Nelson. A tense trip by boat leads them toward the volcanic island of Guailu, where a missing expedition may be waiting. The story is part of The Man Called X, a radio adventure series starring Herbert Marshall as the mysterious title character; this episode first aired on September 4, 1947.
