What happens

Ken Thurston, known as the Man Called X, is pursued through Monte Carlo after he steps in when a small-time crook named Pagan Zellschmidt is chased by a menacing baron. Zellschmidt admits he took the papers of the late nuclear physicist Dr. Wagner from French Guiana, and X sets out to recover them. Along the way he meets Countess Corinne and Jeanette Quilly, and a roulette system and a rigged wheel draw him deeper into a dangerous scheme. The Man Called X is a radio drama from the series of that name, first aired on 1947-10-02 and starring Herbert Marshall as Ken Thurston.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
