What happens

Ken Thurston, a secret agent known as the man called X, flies to the Central American republic of Libertago to stop Borla, a man planning a coup d'etat. On arrival he meets Marie Verba, a singer who fears Borla, and his employee Pagon, who tags along on the trip. Later a government printing office burns down, and Captain Oliphant, who had been hunting Borla, is found dead. Thurston and Florio start to link Borla's interest in stamps to the fire, while the danger around them keeps growing. The series, The Man Called X, aired on May 15, 1947, with Herbert Marshall in the title role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
