What happens
Ken Thurston, an agent investigating the death of his colleague Mark Whitney, follows a hunch to Monte Carlo on the French Riviera. Whitney died in a duel at a villa, and Thurston suspects the official account of a playboy's foolish quarrel is false. At the casinos and parties of the wealthy set, he meets a society hostess, a novelist, and a variety of gamblers. Herbert Marshall stars as the man called X, a weekly series on NBC, and this episode first aired on May 4, 1951. The story continues with Thurston searching for the truth behind the duel and the people around it.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
