What happens

Ken Thurston, the man called X, pursues a supposedly dead spy named George Kolov after Kolov is seen alive in San Francisco. Thurston's trail leads him to Carmel, where he is nearly killed by an unseen attacker, and then to a passenger ship bound for Honolulu. Aboard, Thurston sits at dinner with the Countess de Grazia, a figure he suspects is tied to Kolov, and he and his companion Pagan search the cargo for clues. The story is broadcast in 1951 as an episode of The Man Called X, with Herbert Marshall in the title role and Leon Belasco as Pagan.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
