What happens
Ken Thurston, a private investigator working for the bureau, is called to the home of his friend Bill Thompson in San Francisco, where Bill has been shot. Bill had recently come home from Korea and taken a job selling stocks for George Weaver. Ken begins investigating a scheme that targets the widows of soldiers killed in Korea, sending them fake dividend checks. Ken and his associate Pegeen Schmidt are drawn into a tense chase through fog and along a mountain road. The episode is from The Man Called X, a 1952 radio series starring Herbert Marshall, aired January 29, 1952.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
