What happens
In Malaya, Ken Thurston, known as the Man Called X, takes a shipment of medical supplies to the cholera-stricken village of Siwing, after guerrilla bands have been seizing such supplies from the interior. Accompanied by his assistant Pagan and the young John Nepah, he sets out through the jungle, while a local importer, Stanley Thompson, offers his help. The villagers depend on the drugs, and the doctor at the hospital is caught between the guerrillas and his patients. Thurston's plan to deliver the supplies runs into the guerrillas' control of the district, and he must decide whom to trust. The Man Called X is a radio adventure series, and this episode, broadcast on 1952-04-29, stars Herbert Marshall in the title role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
