What happens
Agent Ken Thurston of a New York bureau is sent to Kabul, Afghanistan, after his colleague Kregambe is murdered in the Dasht-e-Margo desert. Kregambe had been checking rumors of a radioactive material called M5 that could be vital to the hydrogen bomb. In Kabul, Thurston meets an American, Brad Nelson, and a guide named Abdul Khan, and the group heads out into the desert. Herbert Marshall stars as the man called X in this 1952 episode of The Man Called X. The transcript ends in the middle of the story, with the desert party facing a sandstorm and uncertainty about who they can trust.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
