What happens

Ken Thurston, an agent for a secret bureau, investigates a murdered man in Yokohama, Japan, whom he suspects is Professor James Abbott, a missing meteorologist working on secret robot weather stations in Alaska. Thurston hires bush pilot Chuck Stevens to fly him to the Naruka weather station, where they find a young woman named Anna Cola holding a gun. She claims she has killed the professor during a dispute over a uranium claim. Thurston and Stevens begin to question her story and look into the missing professor, while the station's secrets and the dead man's identity remain unresolved. The Man Called X is a radio drama series starring Herbert Marshall, originally broadcast on NBC.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
