What happens

Ken Thurston meets Pearl Martin and Pagan at a New York nightclub, where Pearl sells a pin she believes is valuable. Later, the shop of jeweler Sal Ruben is found ransacked, and Ruben's body turns up in his own safe. Thurston traces a valuable ruby to a Paraguayan jewelry company and suspects a link to the gems of a dead Nazi collector. The investigation draws him to Asuncion, where he meets Felicia Ruiz and the Paraguayan authorities. Herbert Marshall plays Thurston in this episode of The Man Called X, first broadcast on March 28, 1948.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
